Mrs. Marilyn Patterson

Junior High Science

 

 

Mrs. Marilyn Patterson teaches the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade science classes.  She currently resides in Haddon Heights with her husband, who is also a school teacher.   Her son, Sean, attends the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

 

Mrs. Patterson  received her Bachelor of Science Teaching Degree in Elementary Education at Rowan and further advanced her education by receiving her Masters Degree in Advanced Elementary Education at Rowan as well.  She has been teaching at Gibbsboro School for 28 years. 

 

Mrs. Patterson has been an active member of the Gibbsboro School community.  She has served as the Secretary of the H.S. A. and held the positions of Treasurer, Secretary, and President of the Gibbsboro School Education Association. She was the field hockey coach for 16 years, cheerleader advisor for 1 year, intramural sports coach for 2 years, and has been the ad book supervisor for the Drama Club the past 3 years.  In addition to these activities, Mrs. Patterson has served as Student Council Coordinator for 9 years and as the Junior High Coordinator for 8 years.  One of her favorite activities to participate in is “Puttin’ on the Hits” which is sponsored by the Student Council.  Mrs. Patterson was honored by being selected as the Governor’s Teacher of the Year for 1989-1990 which was followed by her selection as the Camden County Teacher of the Year for 1989-1990.  She feels that being an active member of the school and community is an important part of her life that helps to keep her “young!”
