GIBBSBORO SCHOOL CELEBRATES READ 2001
December 8, 2000
On Friday, December 8th Gibbsboro School
joined the national celebration of READ 2001. This event, sponsored
by the National Educational Association, is designed to foster a love of reading in
students across the United States. Gibbsboro's students and teachers started the day
with a Drop Everything and Read session by reading for 2001 seconds (33
1/3 minutes) on Friday morning.
Friday afternoon the entire school population lined the school field to spell
out the words READ 2001. Principal, Sandra Alberti challenged
Gibbsboro's students to read 2001 books by March 2nd, Dr. Seuss's birthday, as they kick
off activity for the National Read Across America celebration.
